E & J Specialties, Inc. was launched in 1963 by John Phelps and Everett Athow. In the beginning, John was a salesman for a hospital supply company, and Everett was head of circulation at a local newspaper. They discovered that displaying one's name via name badges made building relationships much more accessible. Their idea was to change sales representatives’ lives for the better. That was over 53 years ago.

E & J's first name badges were very simple and were produced in John's basement. Soon, John and Everett were supplying badges to companies such as Johnson & Johnson, our first national account.

Many things have changed since those early days. We've survived a flood, the loss of our founder (John Phelps), and a fire in 2004. E & J Specialties, Inc. was then operated by Brent Warren (John Phelps's Son-In-Law) and is still a family-based business. Under Brent's direction, we've expanded our product lines. Currently, we carry a full line of name badges. In 2022 E & J was sold and is now operated by John Warren (Brent's brother). E & J Specialties is being rebranded to E & J Name Badges. Nothing else will change. We will continue to provide top-quality name badges and top-notch customer service.
